Facebook cell phone gossips heating up in spite of formal denials

Facebook cell phone gossips spread across the Internet Sunday. Facebook replied. This reaction came with denial. Apple’s iPhone, Android phones and other Smartphone’s have a great business of rivalry right now. Facebook connecting to that with 500,000 supporting Facebook people with a phone would make sense. However in spite of Google’s world control, the Nexus One quickly faded into oblivion. Microsoft had a worse destiny. Its Kin was worse off. Nevertheless, although Facebook denies it is creating a phone, the company has investigated the feasibility of a Facebook phone. Numerous think that a Facebook phone is unnecessary which is why it wouldn’t do well. Some say Facebook shouldn’t even look into getting its own development platform until its applications can actually work on all of the Smartphone’s.

Future of Facebook phone

TechCrunch is where we saw the Facebook cell phone story first. Like Apple with the iPhone, Facebook is working with a 3rd party manufacturer in secret to build phone software, states Michael Arrington. Arrington thinks the reason a developer left the Google Chrome project in June was to work on the cell phone for Facebook. He speculates that a Facebook phone would be affordable and fully integrated to Facebook to the point where a user could call a friend’s name, rather than a cell phone number.

Facebook rumor

Facebook has had lots of rumors spread about it most recently, including the Facebook phone. Facebook told CNET that its priority was deeper integration with existing Smartphone’s, not building its own. CNN explains that Facebook has its idea leaked often. It also will just get rid of any leaked ideas. There was never set forth the music service that is designed to compete with MySpace music that was expected to emerge have rumors in 2008. “Facebook Wallet,” a proprietary e-commerce product to challenge PayPal, never materialized. Instead, Facebook announced earlier this year that it would partner with eBay’s PayPal to offer a transaction service called Facebook Credits.

Facebook isn’t the competition

A Facebook phone does not make sense, as outlined by John C. Abell at Wired. The concept of a Facebook cell phone is ridiculous. Abell states it is “the tail wagging the dog”. A Facebook phone isn’t something that individuals would want over their original phones. These people want their Androids and iPhone still. Robert Scobe thinks Facebook really needs to just be working on developing apps. He is from Business Insider. He mentions deficiencies for instance better support for contacts, photos and video. He also said Facebook’s main platform is lacking compared to other services. Even following the company’s explosive growth, the only advantage the Facebook platform has over others is 500,000 users.
